Adoption fees:
The practice of adoption fees is not uncommon in shelters with re-homing programs. We would like you to note that MAPS makes no profit from adoption fees at all, and the fee goes directly to paying for only some of the animals care.
Some animals stay with us for up to one year, and this fee in no way covers the costs involved in housing an animal for these long periods.
What the fee covers:
Spay / neuter of the animal
1 general vaccination (or all that are needed up to the time of re-homing)
1 rabies vaccination (or all that are needed up to the time of re-homing)
De-worming
Medical booklet with all medical treatments given by MAPS
Nail trimming
Flea and tick treatment
Vaccination schedule
Advice on training and animal care
Advice on licensing where applicable
Booking of operation if animal is not fixed at time of adoption
